At Shadowfax, our mission has always been to challenge stereotypes and empower women through meaningful economic opportunities. Even in a traditionally male-dominated industry like logistics, we believe women are equally capable and productive as their male counterparts.
With this vision in mind, we launched WISH (Women in Shadowfax) at the beginning of 2017—our dedicated delivery fleet of women riders. We are delighted to share that, within just a few months, the seeds we planted to empower women have begun to bear fruit.
WISH was created to provide women with a safe, flexible, and rewarding opportunity to earn a livelihood while gaining financial independence.
Through this initiative, women riders are not only supporting their families but also breaking societal barriers and redefining perceptions within the logistics industry.

One of the most inspiring success stories from the WISH program is that of Jamuna, a single mother of a 17-year-old son.
After separating from her husband, Jamuna joined WISH in March 2017 with a clear goal—to provide her son with a quality education and a brighter future.
Determined to overcome life's challenges, she embraced the opportunity with dedication and perseverance.
In a remarkably short period, Jamuna shattered expectations through her hard work and commitment. In September 2017 alone, she successfully completed 1,100 deliveries, securing a place among the top three delivery partners out of Shadowfax's network of more than 5,000 delivery personnel.
A rider who completes over 1,000 orders per month typically earns between ₹1,200 and ₹1,800 per day, making it a sustainable source of income and financial stability.
Reflecting on her journey, Jamuna shares:
“It was disheartening to imagine that I would not be able to fulfill my son's dream of getting admission to a modern private college.”
With tears in her eyes, she continues:
“Having a safe and secure job was a dream before I joined Shadowfax, and now it feels like a dream come true.”
Her story is a powerful reminder of how access to opportunities can transform lives and create lasting impact.
Speaking about Jamuna's achievement, Nirupama Das, who heads PAN India rider sourcing at Shadowfax and leads a team responsible for onboarding more than 1,000 riders across 20 cities, said:
“We are extremely proud of Jamuna. Her success is a testament to our commitment to creating an inclusive platform for micro-entrepreneurship with equal opportunities for all delivery partners. We continuously strive to ensure the growth and safety of our women riders. I am confident that many other WISH riders will follow Jamuna's example and compete for top rankings in the future.”
At Shadowfax, we remain committed to supporting and nurturing women riders by providing them with the tools, opportunities, and support they need to succeed.
Jamuna's achievement is just the beginning of many more inspiring stories to come.
This Diwali, Jamuna has made the festival brighter not only for her family but also for society as a whole. Her journey serves as an inspiration to countless women who aspire to become financially independent and challenge traditional stereotypes.
We hope she continues to reach new milestones and motivates many more women to pursue their dreams with confidence and determination.
